Heeke’s Big Day Lifts CMU Past MSU

MT. PLEASANT – Zach Heeke drove in four runs and scored two more and the Central Michigan baseball team rolled to a 13-2 win over visiting Michigan State on Tuesday.

Heeke led all hitters at the plate by going 4-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, two runs and a walk.

The Chippewas (23-28-1) led 4-2 through 6 1/2 innings, putting the game on ice with a five-run seventh.

Cameron Miller allowed only hit and struck out five over the final 4 2/3 innings to earn the win in relief for the Chippewas, which outhit the Spartans (18-29) 16-7.

CMU welcomes in Ohio for a three-game Mid-American Conference series on Thursday.
