Houghton Lake Soccer Hungry For More This Season

HOUGHTON LAKE – Last year the Houghton Lake Girls Soccer Team made it to the regional semifinals for only the second time in program history.

This year, they are hoping to get back to that point and push past it.

So far this season, the Bobcats have yet to lose a game in conference and are on track to have a successful postseason.

They’re returning a large amount of their players from last year, but they also have great talent in their underclassmen.

“I think I have nine returning starters. We have a lot of girls coming back and the freshmen that have come up have really really done a good job filling for those seniors who left, so it’s been nice,” said the Bobcats’ head coach, Darren Barnes.

“We have gained a lot of new freshmen that are really talented and I think that’s definitely helping us a lot,” junior Lexi Blanchard added.

Houghton Lake’s next game is Friday against Ogemaw Heights.
