Howell Wins First Ever Cherry Bomb Long Drive

TRAVERSE CITY – Day 2 of the Cherry Bomb Long Drive Tournament at LochenHeath Golf Club wrapped up on Saturday afternoon.

The tournament started with 16 of the world’s best long drivers on Friday and was narrowed down to 8 on Saturday.

The day consisted of quarterfinals, then semifinals, and finally the championship.

North Carolina native Paul Howell took home the trophy and now has the title of the first ever winner of the Cherry Bomb Long Drive.

“I mean it’s awesome. I mean, it’s a cool place, great people, good venue, so hopefully we can have more of those,” said Howell after his win.

Organizers say they hope to host this tournament again and more like it in Northern Michigan.

All the proceeds from ticket sales went to the Grand Traverse Veteran’s Coalition. They raised over $1,000.
