Renovations Set To Be Complete At Centre Ice In June
TRAVERSE CITY – Center Ice Arena is just over a week into renovations.
So far, they have gotten all the stanchions up, finished the cap rails, and are in the process of hanging the Kevlar netting.
They also have put up new glass around both rinks.
“The great new aspect of this glass, in comparison to our old glass, is how much it moves, which is really a great safety benefit, and, as you can see, it really moves. Instead of running into a really pretty much immovable object, which our old glass was, there’s give, which helps a ton,” said Terry Marchand, the Executive Director of the arena.
A new NHL mandate required new safety standards and that’s when Centre Ice Arena decided to make the renovations so they could continue their tradition of hosting the Detroit Red Wings’ Training and the NHL Prospect Tournament.
The cost of the renovations will total $220,000.
Money has been raised to help with the costs. If you’d like to donate, you can visit their website.
Anyone is welcome to stop by any time to see the work in progress. Centre Ice Arena is located at 1600 Chartwell Drive, Traverse City.
Renovations are set to be done on or before June 5.
