St. Ignace Finishes 4th at MHSAA D2 Finals

NORWAY – The St. Ignace boys golf team finished fourth at the MHSAA Upper Peninsula Division 2 finals at Norway’s Oak Crest Golf Course on Wednesday.

The two-time defending champion Saints carded a 356, finishing behind winner Iron River West Iron County (315), Norway (344) and Hancock (352), respectively.

Mason Matson finished 10th overall for the Saints after shooting an 85. Chase Tallaire also shot an 87 while Reid Marshall and Lane Matson recorded 92s.

Newberry finished sixth after recording a 379. Jeff Rahilly led the way with an 87 while teammate Ethan Edwards shot a 91.

On the girls side, Painesdale-Jeffers captured the title with a 481, with Munising (487) and West Iron County (490) in second and third, respectively.

Newberry’s Riley Burton tied for fourth overall with a 107 while teammate Felicia Raymond shot a 115. St. Ignace’s Olivia Champion carded a 113 to finish 10th.
