Central Michigan Trio Drafted by MLB Teams
MT. PLEASANT – Three Central Michigan baseball players heard their names called in the 2018 MLB Draft on Wednesday.
Michael Brettell, a right-handed pitcher for the Chippewas, got drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 15th round, with the 453rd overall selection.
“Definitely very anxious leading up to that moment,” Brettell said. “Once I heard my name get called, it was a just like a whole overflow of emotions, I wanna say. I can’t really pinpoint what kind it was, but I had friends there. I had family there with me. And we just loved it. Loved every moment of it.”
Dazon Cole was the next Chippewa selected, as the right-handed pitcher went to the Los Angeles Angels in the 25th round. Daniel Robinson is also headed to Los Angeles, as the outfielder got drafted by the Dodgers in the 29th round.
