Lions Start Youth Camp in Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY – The Detroit Lions made the trip up to northern Michigan for their annual youth camps, starting their camp in Traverse City Monday morning. Children between the ages of 6 and 14 are encouraged to join the camp and learn from the pros.

“We’ve got some first time-football players out here, and we’ve got faces that we’ve been seeing out here in Traverse City for a number of years, so all are welcome, boys and girls,” T.C. camp coach Pat Sharrow said.

The young athletes have been learning fundamentals, along with the physical and mental aspects of the game.

“This is what we signed up for. Being able to go out and help promote the game, providing positive football experiences throughout the communities in Michigan,” Sharrow said. “We certainly look forward to coming up here for a number of reasons, but being able to impact the kids, their families, through the game of football is what we do.”
