Lugnuts Host Midwest League All-Star Game

EAST LANSING – Montrell Marshall’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the 10th gave the East squad a 3-2 win over the West squad in the Midwest League All-Star game Tuesday in East Lansing.

Mt. Pleasant native and 2017 draft pick Aaron Leasher got the start for the East squad. Drafted by the San Diego Padres in the sixth round of last year’s draft, Leasher allowed one hit and struck out one in the first inning.

“I’m excited. I didn’t know what to expect,” Leasher said. “There’s more than nine pitchers here. I’m honored to be a part of the game. In Midland, and then in Lansing, Grand Rapids, there’s been quite a few people out over the first half, family members and friends. But to come here for the All-Star Game, I’m sure they’re pretty excited.”

The East squad held a 2-0 lead through five innings on a Taylor Wells RBI single and Jared Walker’s solo home run.
