Area Athletes Shine at State All-Star Games

MT. PLEASANT – The Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association held its 37th annual Dick Foster Memorial All-Star games Wednesday at Central Michigan’s Margo Jonker Stadium.

The day opened with the Division 3 game as Team White posted a 15-8 win over Team Red.

Benzie Central’s Lauren Ross recorded an RBI single while Beaverton’s Faith Howe scored a run for Team Red. Ross and Howe were joined by fellow area athletes Ann-Marie Hicks (Beaverton), Dallas Longstreth (Beaverton), Grace Wells (Boyne City), Jordyn Storch (Reed City) and Katie Hoth on Team Red, which was coached by Reed City’s Roger Steig and Benzie Central’s Scott Brautigam.

In the Division 4 game, Team Red pulled away for a 12-1 win.

Vestaburg’s Kailee McGarvey and Coleman’s Autumn Tubbs both drove in runs in the win as the two were joined by Faith Barden (Coleman), Hadyn Terwilliger (Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart), Kathryn Goenner (Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart and Lane Clegg (Rudyard).

Rogers City’s Kayla Rabeau singled in the lone run for Team White. Rabeau was joined by fellow area athletes Olivia Tomaszewski (Frankfort), Hannah Fleming (Rogers City), Lindsay Van Daele (Inland Lakes) and Keziah Stockdale (Frankfort) on Team Red, which was coached by Frankfort’s Mike Thompson.

In the Division 2 contest, Makenzie Wilkinson (Kalkaska ) and Carly Williams (Petoskey) led Team Red to a 5-2 win over Team White. Team Red was coached by Petoskey’s Dave Serefini.
