McLaurin Excited For First Season With Lady Vikings

CADILLAC – You’ll be seeing a new face on the bench of the Cadillac girls varsity basketball team come November.

Mike McLaurin is the new head coach for the Lady Vikings.

McLaurin, who is also the Dean of Students at Mackinaw Trail Middle School, is bringing a lot of experience into the program. He’s coached many other sports including soccer, and football. He says he cannot wait to get the season going.

“There’s a lot of potential coming through, just really excited to be a part of what they have to offer,” said McLaurin.

Even though the start of the season is months away, he’s getting some preparations in now.

“We prepare for the Gaylord team camp which will be at the end of the month. We have a freshman and JV team going up and a varsity team going up on two different dates. They’ll get nine games in three days, so it will be kind of a good test to see where we are before the season starts,” added McLaurin.

Official practices begin November 12.
