Traverse City Native Playing For USA In Hlinka Gretzky Cup

TRAVERSE CITY – Traverse City native Dylan Davies is getting the opportunity of a lifetime.

He was selected to be on the United States U-18 Men’s Select Team that will be playing in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton, Canada.

“This accomplishment has been the biggest one, it’s probably the happiest I’ve ever been in my life,” said Davies.

It started with two camps in Michigan that he needed to get through. That got him to the USA Hockey Boys Select 17 Player Development Camp. Over 180 kids participated and 20 were selected to represent the USA at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

He and his family have done everything possible to get him to this point, including moving away from his hometown to live in Chicago, so he could play on a team there.

“It’s been a lot of sacrifices that’s for sure,” added Davies.

He leaves for Canada at the end of July to get practices in for a week and then the tournament runs through Aug. 6-11.
