Beach Bums Drop 7th Straight
TRAVERSE CITY – The Traverse City Beach Bums dropped their seventh straight contest, falling 5-3 to the Normal CornBelters Friday at Wuerfel Park.
The Beach Bums (31-38) took a 2-1 lead to the fourth on an error at second base in the bottom of the third, allowing Will Kengor to score.
Normal stretched a pair of runs across the plate in the fourth and tacked on insurance runs in the sixth and seventh.
Matt Murphy was saddled with the loss after surrendering four earned runs on nine hits while striking out one over six innings.
Kendall Patrick went 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI to lead the Beach Bums, while Connor Oliver and Noah McGowan both went 2-for-4 with each scoring a run.
Jack Landwehr tossed a complete game for the CornBelters (35-32), giving up two earned runs on nine hits while fanning six.
