Charlton Heston Academy Set for Year 5
ST. HELEN – Charlton Heston Academy is gearing up for its fifth season on the gridiron this fall.
The Patriots are coming off an 0-9 campaign – their first winless season since going 0-7 in their inaugural campaign in 2014.
“I’m using that as kind of motivation to, you know, help the team,” Charlton Heston sophomore Lucas Richardson said. “We had a rough season. Just move past it and do our best this year. We show up to practice every day, and work as hard as we can.”
Following the disbandment of the Bridge Alliance League, Charlton Heston joins the Midwest Central Michigan 8-Player Football Conference’s East division. Charlton Heston will compete alongside former conference foes in Onaway, Posen and Pellston while facing new opponents in Atlanta, Hale, Hillman and Au Gres-Sims.
“We’re progressing, you know, all the kids were at practice every day,” Charlton Heston coach Steve Bednarik said. “We come to work every day. We just need to be competitive in the games.”
Charlton Heston opens its season at home against Atlanta on Thursday, Aug. 24.
