By the Numbers 2018: Week 4 in Review

From great individual performances from Reed City’s Phillip Jones-Price and Pickford’s Jimmy Storey to Fremont snapping a 30-game losing streak, Week 4 of the high school football season in northern Michigan saw a number of great stories play out.

3 – Sacks recorded by Forest Area’s Eric Burke in a 54-0 conference loss to Onekama last Friday. Burke tallied nine total tackles on the day.
14 – Area teams still seeking their first win after Week 4. Baldwin, Bear Lake, Mason County Central, Shelby, Shepherd, Kalkaska, East Jordan, Inland Lakes, Mio, Whittemore-Prescott, Vestaburg, Beal City, White Cloud and Central Montcalm are all still winless.

Pickford’s Jimmy Storey threw for 329 yards and five scores in a 58-12 win over Rapid River

30 – Consecutive losses by Fremont prior to last Friday’s 26-12 CSAA Gold win over Central Montcalm. The Packers had gone winless the previous three seasons.
32 – Points scored by Brethren in the first quarter of a 46-6 West Michigan D League win over Big Rapids Crossroads last Friday.

Rogers City is off to its first 4-0 start since 2006.

217 – Rushing yards for Reed City senior Phillip Jones-Price in a 57-6 CSAA Gold win over Tri County last Friday. Jones carried the ball 12 times and tallied four touchdowns.
329 – Yards thrown by Pickford junior quarterback Jimmy Storey in a 58-12 win over Rapid River last Friday. Storey was 14-of-21 with five passing touchdowns and one rushing.

Brethren got off to a quick start in a 46-6 win over Big Rapids Crossroads, scoring 32 points in the first quarter.

2006 – The last season Rogers City started a campaign 4-0. The Hurons face Oscoda on Friday in a matchup of undefeated teams.
2008 – The last time Pellston had defeated Onaway prior to Saturday’s 18-16 win. The Hornets are just 4-25 all-time against the Cardinals.
