Red Wings Fall to Blue Jackets in NHL Prospect Tournament Finale

TRAVERSE CITY – The Detroit Red Wings fell 7-3 to the Columbus Blue Jackets in the championship game of the 20th NHL Prospect Tournament at Traverse City’s Centre Ice Arena on Tuesday.

The Red Wings trailed 2-1 after the second intermission.

Givani Smith scored twice for Detroit while Dennis Cholowski put the Red Wings ahead 3-2 early in the third period.

In Tuesday’s earlier action, the St. Louis Blues skated to an 8-4 win over the New York Rangers in the seventh-place game, while the Dallas Stars earned a 7-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in the fifth-place game. The Minnesota Wild also won 3-2 over the Chicago Blackhawks for third place.
