Harbor Springs Brimming with Talent in 2018

HARBOR SPRINGS – After winning its first MHSAA Division 4 state championship a year ago by 11 strokes, the Harbor Springs girls golf team is brimming with talent this fall.

Ranked second in the latest Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association Division 4 state poll, the Rams return their top four golfers after only graduating their fifth golfer.

“You couldn’t ask for a better situation as a coach,” Harbor Springs coach Pete Kelbel said. “We’re just try to get them to peak at the right time. I’m just hoping for healthy girls to give us our chance that we think we have.

“Our goal is to shoot 340. We have done better than that, but we feel 340 gives us a fighting chance.”

The Lower Peninsula girls golf tournament begins next Wednesday. Harbor Springs will compete in a 10-team regional hosted by Grayling at the Grayling Country Club on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
