No. 2 Leland Shuts Out McBain NMC in Regional Semis

CADILLAC – Michael Roberts tallied two first-half goals and the second-ranked Leland boys soccer team rolled to an 8-0 win over McBain Northern Michigan Christian in a Division 4 regional semifinal at Cadillac on Tuesday.

Roberts finished the game with a hat trick as the Comets (21-1-3) led 5-0 at the half.

Jack Munoz, Andrew Masse, Nick Saffel, Cobe Lund and Owen Kareck all registered a goal apiece for the Comets.

Gavin Miller and Andy Mosqueda split time in net for the shutout.

Leland will now face No. 1 Muskegon Western Michigan Christian for the regional title. WMC handed Roscommon a 7-0 loss in Tuesday’s second semifinal.

Thursday’s game is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
