Reed City’s Monty Price Honored by Detroit Lions

REED CITY – Reed City’s Monty Price has been selected by the Detroit Lions as the Week 6 recipient of the 2018 Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan High School Coach of the Week program.

Ranked fourth in Division 5, Reed City is off to its third 6-0 start since 2015 and recently locked up its ninth straight playoff bid.

Now in his 24th season of coaching high school football and 20th at Reed City, Price’s Coyotes have recorded 10 or more wins in six of the previous seven seasons, captured seven consecutive Central State Activities Association Gold division titles and made the playoffs in 15 of his 20 seasons.

Prior to Reed City, Price coached at Chippewa Hills and Montabella before moving on to Reed City in 1999.

Price and the Coyotes travel to Central Montcalm (0-6) on Friday in a CSAA Gold matchup.

Now in its 22nd year, the Detroit Lions High School Coach of the Week program awards a $2,000 donation to the recipient’s football program and a Gatorade performance package. All winners receive a certificate signed by Lions coach Matt Patricia and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, as well as a personalized game ball and acknowledgement at an upcoming home game. The season’s Coach of the Year will be awarded a $4,000 donation to the school’s football team and a Gatorade performance package.
