Reed City Readies for Rematch with Swan Valley
REED CITY – The Coyotes are continuing their perfect season and heading to a regional final.
Saturday’s game will be their fourth Week 12 appearance in program history, and if they win, will be their second regional championship.
They face the No. 1 Division 5 team in the state, Saginaw Swan Valley. The Vikings are the number one team in the state.
“It doesn’t matter who the opponent is, a regional final game is a pretty special place for any program to be. We’re very grateful for that,” said Monty Price, the Coyotes head coach.
These two teams are familiar with each other, after facing off in last year’s state semi-final game. Swan Valley advanced to the state championship after winning that matchup 29-14.
“It’s a pretty big game, and we’re definitely looking for revenge. Last year we made a little bit of hiccups here and there but this game is a different game, so we’re just going to focus, and just play our game,” Reed City senior Nick Douglass said.
Reed City and Swan Valley are closely matched, with the Coyotes outscoring their opponents 545-68 while the Vikings are at 470-98. With stats like this, both teams are very well balanced.
“Well the balance between our team is just our hard work and effort that we bring in practices and we push at games. Everybody that we have on our team works hard on and off the field. A lot of it is just all of our discipline in practices,” said Connor Agan, a Reed City senior.
The two powerhouse teams face off Saturday at 1 p.m. at Swan Valley.
