Traverse City’s Alex Scott Named GAM Player of the Year

FARMINGTON HILLS — The Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) named Alex Scott its 2018 Men’s Player of the Year, following a successful year for the Traverse City native on the golf course.

Scott had impressive accomplishments this past season, qualifying for the U.S. Amateur at Pebble Beach. At the tournament, he finished tied for 10th in  stroke play, before losing to the top-ranked amateur, William Mouw, in match play.

Scott also put his name in the record books at the Michigan PGA’s Tournament of Champions. His score of 11-under (61) in the final round tied the course record, and he became the first amateur to win the tournament in its 27th year.

Scott is currently a senior at Grand Valley State University.
