CMU Women Ready For No. 3 Louisville
MOUNT PLEASANT – It’s not every day that one of the top teams in the country comes to play at McGuirk Arena, but that’s the case for this Thursday’s matchup.
The CMU women’s basketball, who have only dropped one game this season, will be taking on the undefeated and third ranked team in the country, Louisville.
“They put a lot of pressure on us, they try to turn the ball over early and attack in the first quarter and through the games that they’ve played so we just have to come out and do the same thing, play our game, take care of the ball and rebound,” said senior guard, Presley Hudson.
So far this season, Louisville have won all their 11 games, with most of their victories being by over 20 points.
“This game it’s a really good opportunity for this team just to see what kind of teams we can compete against and
where we’re at at this point and find those little things that we really need to improve on and our weaknesses but really it’s just a good opportunity for everyone to get out there and show them what we can do,” said senior forward Reyna Frost.
The two teams have met three times overall, with Louisville having the upper-hand 2-1. However, the last time they played in 2009, CMU won 84-75.
The Chippewas are hoping for a similar outcome.
“You know for us, limiting our turnovers, limiting how many points they get off of turnovers and limiting how many second chance points they get off of rebounds, so we’ve been working on it, we’ll be ready and now it’s just a matter of throw that ball up and let’s play,” said head coach Sue Guevara.
The game is at 7 p.m. on Thursday at McGuirk Arena.
