DiLeo And Roundtree’s Combined 42 Leads To CMU Victory
MOUNT PLEASANT – It was another day of an intense non-conference matchup at McGuirk Arena, this time on the men’s side.
The Chippewas (9-2) welcomed Jackson State (2-9) to town.
At the half, CMU only lead by 1 with a score of 35-34.
But after halftime, the Chippewas wore down the Tigers and ran away with the game. They went on to win 81-72.
“I think it’s a great sign, the 21 points shows we’ve got guys that can lead us on scoring every night but even more so, we have four guys in double figures and Rob Montgomery has 9. So, you have almost your entire starting lineup in double figures, so we’re not a team that you can maybe take one player away and change the dynamic,” said head coach Keno Davis of his team’s performance today.
Junior David DiLeo and senior Shawn Roundtree Jr. lead the team with a season-high of 21 points each.
“You know in warm ups today, I knew my shot felt good, but I think the big key, at least for me, was letting the game come to me. You know like I mentioned I didn’t get as many open looks in the first half and I just got to stay with it and stay confident in my shot, and then I got loose a couple times in the second half especially during that run and just stepped up and knocked them down,” said DiLeo.
This makes Central Michigan undefeated at home and 10-2 overall.
Next up for them is Indiana South Bend on December 30.
