Year in Review: Spring 2018

Beal City’s baseball program captured its first MHSAA Division 4 state championship since 2010 and highlighted the 2018 spring high school sports season in northern Michigan.

The title was the fourth for the Aggies and third since 2009.

In all, five area baseball/softball teams reached the state finals at Michigan State, with Sanford Meridian joining Coleman on the softball side of the things. Winners of the 1987 Class B title, the Mustangs made their first state semifinal appearance since 1997.

Top-ranked Rogers City made its second softball semifinal appearance in five years, falling to Coleman in the Division 4 semifinals. The Gaylord St. Mary baseball program also made its third straight appearance in the Division 4 semifinals.
