Kingsley Edges Glen Lake in Northwest Conference Battle
MAPLE CITY – Division 2 second-ranked Kingsley took over sole possession of first place in the Northwest Conference with a 47-39 win over Division 3 No. 9 Glen Lake on Thursday.
The Stags (9-1, 6-0) trailed 10-5 after the opening quarter but took a 22-17 lead at the half.

“Overall, yes it was a big win,” Kingsley coach Matt Schelich said. “We know we’re going to get our best shot from them and it’s always a great heated crowd up here and it’s just turned into a great game the last several years and defensive effort was spot on. We struggled rebounding at times a little bit we had some foul trouble which played a couple different cards for us but the intensity I thought was great for our defense.”
Kingsley extended its lead to nine at 36-27 after three quarters en route to its eighth straight win.
Glen Lake (8-2, 5-1) travels to Leland on Wednesday, while Kingsley visits Benzie Central.
