Gaylord Falls to Lowell in Division 2 Wrestling State Semifinal

KALAMAZOO – Gaylord’s hopes of returning to the state finals for a second straight year were dashed by defending state champion Lowell on Saturday.

Top-seed Lowell defeated four-seed Gaylord 34-24.

“I thought we had the pin at 152. You give us that pin and take away three from them, and it’s a 31-30 duel, so not bad for a four-seed. I thought we out-wrestled them, really. We’ll just keep battling. We’ll be back next year,” said Gaylord head coach, Jerry LaJoie.

Gaylord graduates just three seniors from this year’s team.
