Great North Alpine Boys Captured Division 2 State Championship

BOYNE FALLS – Finn Husband captured both the slalom and giant slalom races in leading Great North Alpine to the MHSAA Division 2 boys ski state title Monday at Boyne Mountain.

Monday’s state final saw an end to Petoskey’s eight-year reign as state champion as the Northmen finished second.

Harbor Springs’ Andrew Truman finished second in the slalom and giant slalom.

Pontiac Notre Dame Prep won the girls championship, with Petoskey taking home the runner-up finish.

In the Division 1 state final at Schuss Mountain in Bellaire, Marquette swept both the boys and girls titles for a fourth straight year.

The Redmen boys won their seventh consecutive state championship while the Redettes won their fourth.

Traverse City West finished second in the boys meet while the girls were third. The Traverse City Central girls program took home a runner-up finish while the boys finished in fourth.

West’s Hannah Schramski won the giant slalom.
