Mt. Pleasant Shoots Past Cadillac in Regional Semis

BIG RAPIDS – Mt. Pleasant punched its ticket to a Division 3 regional final with a 4-1 win over Cadillac on Wednesday at Ferris State.

The Oilers (15-8-1) took a 2-0 lead after the opening period on goals from Christian Elmore-Turner and Jake Higbie, with Higbie’s goal coming in the final minutes of the period while shorthanded.

After Cadillac converted on a power play early in the second to cut the Oiler lead in half, Owen Foust scored on the power play in the waning minutes to give Mt. Pleasant a 3-1 lead after two.

Cadillac ends its season at 10-15-1.

Mt. Pleasant will now face either Flint Powers or Big Rapids for the regional championship Saturday at 7 p.m.
