The Heather Named 2019 Golf Course Of The Year
The Heather at Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs was named the 2019 National Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Owners Association.
The award is based on the quality of the course, ownership and management as well as contributions to the community and the game.
“To see it here now all these years later where the 55-year-old course actually wins this award, it goes to show the heritage and the tradition that the Heather provided here at Boyne Highlands and really all over northern Michigan,” Boyne Highlands director of golf sales and marketing Ken Griffin said. “Both humbled and honored for both but whenever we received notice that we were going to win the national golf course of the year it was an unbelievable feeling.”
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1966, the course was the first to open at Boyne Highlands and has challenged golfers for years.
