Stefanski’s 3 Lifts Frankfort Past Leland, Win D4 Regional Title

TRAVERSE CITY – Jack Stefanski’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer lifted Frankfort to 41-38 win over Leland in a Division 4 regional final on Thursday.

The two teams were tied at 29-29 after three quarters.

Leland opened the game with a 10-9 lead after the first quarter but trailed 20-17 at the half.

Stefanski paced the Panthers with 15 points while Will Newbold had 13.

With the loss, Leland ends its year at 14-9.

Gavin Miller led the Comets with 19 while J.J. Popp had 16.

Frankfort (19-5) will take on Big Rapids Crossroads in a quarterfinal Tuesday at Cadillac. Crossroads (23-1) rallied to down Fulton, 49-44, on Thursday for its first regional title.

Tuesday’s game is set for 7 p.m.
