Fifth Annual Finnegan Invitational Tournament Begins

TRAVERSE CITY – On Thursday afternoon the fifth annual Finnegan Invitational Tournament officially tipped off at Traverse City St. Francis High School.

The tournament, put on by St. Francis’ head basketball coach Sean Finnegan, showcases 14 semi-professional basketball teams.

“You’re going to see things you don’t normally get to see in northern Michigan, especially for the small fee of $5,” said reigning champ and Traverse City Central high school coach, Travis Schuba. “You know you’re going to see high flyers, you’re going to see big guys, you’re going to see guys that shoot it from deeper, good ball handling, just things you wouldn’t see in high school but what better way to spend $5 than to come and support your community and see some quality basketball.”

The top three teams of the tournament receive cash prizes and all of the proceeds are going to support the youth basketball programs at St. Francis.

Tickets at $5 at the door. The tournament runs through Sunday, April 28.
