Former Red Wing Dallas Drake Reacts to Yzerman’s Return to Detroit

TRAVERSE CITY – Red Wing legend and NHL Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman is back with the organization, named the Red Wings’ general manager Friday afternoon.

Yzerman won three Stanley Cups as a player for Detroit during his two decades with the team. His former teammate Dallas Drake is looking forward to seeing what Yzerman can do.

“He’s an icon down there, on and off the ice. He’s a guy that’s going to bring a tremendous amount of energy back to the association and the fan base,” Drake said. “I think there are going to be a lot of people excited about it.”

Drake also credits former GM Ken Holland, who is now the team’s senior vice president, for building a future for the franchise.

“Can’t discredit what Kenny Holland has done there. He is, in my opinion, one of the best GMs in the National Hockey League, and he always probably will be. They’re obviously moving in the right direction.”
