Nine TC Central Seniors Announce College Commitments
TRAVERSE CITY – Traverse City Central hosted a college commitment ceremony for nine senior student-athletes on Wednesday.
Multi-sport athlete Tobin Schwannecke was one of the nine athletes to announce their college commitment on Wednesday. Schwannecke is headed to Grand Valley State and joins the school’s football and men’s basketball programs.
“I was given an unbelievable opportunity to play at Traverse City Central for Coach (Tim) Odette, Coach (Eric) Schugars, Coach (Travis) Schuba, Coach (John) Lober,” Schwannecke said. “To have the opportunity to work in the weight room and really just the staff here, it starts from the ground up.”
Schwannecke’s basketball teammate Preston Briggs is taking his talents to the University of Wisconsin-Stout while five members of Central’s baseball team in Marty McDonald (Muskegon Community College), Matt Corrado (Muskegon CC), Riley Sullivan (Macomb Community College) and Sam Schmitt (Grand Rapids Community College) are all headed to the next level.
Tennis player Mathew Henkel committed to Hope College, while Ethan Richey is joining Albion College’s lacrosse program and Jordan Christopher heads to Adrian College’s track and field team.
