Sault Ste. Marie’s Bell Signs with LSSU
SAULT STE. MARIE – Sault Ste. Marie senior Ashtyn Bell signed her National Letter of Intent with Lake Superior State and its women’s basketball program on Wednesday.
A Straits Area Conference First Team honoree as a junior and senior, Bell was named Sault Ste. Marie’s MVP as a senior and led the Blue Devils to a 13-7 campaign in 2018-19. She joins former Blue Devil teammate Mackenzie Kalchick who is concluding her freshman year with the Lakers.
“There’s a couple times where I hung out with the Lake State team and I really love them,” Bell said. “They’re really great girls. Mackenzie Kalchick is one of my best friends. Just playing with her again is going to be a really fun experience. I’m just really ready to work hard every day and just have a good attitude and see what my skills can do and help to bring them to the team.”
Bell also competed on Sault Ste. Marie’s volleyball and girls soccer programs. She also considered Saginaw Valley State, Ferris State and Calvin College.
She plans to study nursing.
