Cedarville’s Lily Freel Earns D3 Championship Medalist Honors
GLADSTONE – Cedarville junior Lily Freel earned medalist honors at the MHSAA Upper Peninsula Division 3 championships at Irish Oaks Golf Course in Gladstone on Thursday.
Freel, who captured medalist honors as a freshman in 2017, finished with an 85 on Thursday to lead the Trojans to a second-place finish. Ontonagon won the event with a 418, besting Cedarville by 11 strokes.
Mackinac Island finished in fifth with a 459, as junior Makenna Horricks tied for third individually with a 100. DeTour took a seventh-place finish with a 483.
On the boys side, Ontonagon took home the title after shooting a 347. Dollar Bay was second (357) and Powers North Central third (370). Cedarville finished in fourth place after carding a 374, with junior Jarrett St. Onge leading the way with an 89.
DeTour came home in eighth with a 416 while Engadine was ninth with a 448. Mackinac Island’s Trevor Pereny competed as an individual and recorded a 101.
