Coleman Softball Looking to Take Next Step, Seeks First State Title Since 2005

COLEMAN – Coleman softball is in the middle of another successful season. The Comets already have more than 20 wins this year.

“We are hitting the ball when we need to. We are scoring when we need to. Our pitchers are doing really well in the circle. We are playing really good defense behind them We have all the pieces it takes to make it,” said senior MacKenzie Miller.

The last two years, Coleman came close to winning the program’s first state title since 2005.

The Comets made it to the semifinals in 2017, then took the next step and got into the finals in 2018.

“I want to go back to MSU because that is an experience not everybody gets, so to go there twice is really cool, but if I made it three out of my four years, that is something that I do not think most people can say,” said Miller.

Coleman returns a great group of girls after only graduating two seniors.

“I have four seniors. Three of them, this will be their fourth year on varsity. It was like they were seniors last year. They just have so much experience,” said Klopf.

Coleman will host the Coleman Comet Classic Saturday.
