Pit Spitters Prepare for Season Opener
TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Pit Spitters hit the field on Monday with an open practice, giving fans a sneak peek at this year’s team. Their season opener is Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. against the Green Bay Booyah.
The team is still getting used to each other as the season begins, as they came together just two days ago.
“We had guys introduce themselves yesterday. That was more of the name game day, right there, but today it’s kinda like you’re buddies with them all, and you’re kinda just making small talk and seeing what’s up,” Pit Spitters catcher Adam Proctor said. “It’s going to be a good summer. I think this is a good group of guys.”
“It’s exciting for me. I don’t feel any pressure about it. And you know, my job, too, I feel like, is to help the players feel comfortable in the environment that they’re in, get to know each other real quick,” Pit Spitters manager Josh Rebandt said. “And then get ready to rock on opening night.”
Chase Wheatcroft is set to start in the Pit Spitters’ home opener on Tuesday. Conrad Voss and Evan Gates are slated to start on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Wheatcroft has familiarity with Rebandt when they were both with Battle Creek last year.
