Pit Spitters Unveil Inaugural Jerseys In Sky-High Style
TRAVERSE CITY – With Opening Day only 20 days away, the Traverse City Pit Spitters had another big announcement on Wednesday morning.
They revealed the jerseys for their inaugural season at the Open Space in Traverse City.
But it wasn’t your run-of-the-mill unveiling. The jerseys were shown off by two skydivers who jumped from a helicopter over the Grand Traverse Bay.
“When you talk about baseball, jerseys is such a big part of what people expect and see so today we’ve got the home and road jerseys that we’re unveiling and we’ll also have an alternate jersey that people can see online,” said Mickey Graham, the Pit Spitters GM.
With the jerseys being such a big part of the team, they felt they had to do something big.
The jerseys revealed today were the home and away jerseys.
“We went more traditional,” said Graham. “So the home jerseys are white, with just the straight logo across. And the road jerseys are grey with black letters with Traverse City across it so for the true baseball fan, the traditional fan, they’ll like those jerseys. And we’ll do some other fun ones for that are looking for something different.”
The big reveal today is building the anticipation for the beginning of a new era of baseball in Traverse City.
“We’re excited to host everyone in northern Michigan for the first Pit Spitters game and we’re excited for everyone to come out and see the changes and taste all the new food and see everything the crews been working on and we’re looking forward to hosting everyone throughout the summer,” added Graham.
Opening Day is Tuesday, May 28. Tickets, jerseys and other apparel are on sale now on the Pit Spitters website.
