Cadillac to Add Girls Golf, Swimming and Diving
CADILLAC – Cadillac High School recently announced that it is adding a pair of girls varsity sports for the 2019-20 academic year.
Golf and swimming and diving will be offered for the 2019 fall season. Nearly 40 female student-athletes have already expressed interest in joining the two programs.
With the addition of the two sports, Cadillac will have an equal number of athletic programs for boys and girls.
“We really don’t have a lot to offer female athletes in the fall. We just have volleyball and we have cross country” Cadillac athletic director Fred Bryant said. “It gives us the opportunity to offer some sports that we don’t have and it also puts us a little bit more in compliant with Title IX and making sure that our female athletes have equal opportunity… A lot of positive feedback so far. And for me, really, surprisingly the amount of interest from the student body.”
The Cadillac YMCA will serve as the host facility for the swimming and diving team while the girls golf team will call the Cadillac Country Club home.
Cadillac is taking applications for both coaching positions.
