Kuzewski Steps Down at Hillman

HILLMAN – After 12 seasons with the Hillman girls basketball program, John Kuzewski is stepping down as head coach.

Kuzewski led Hillman to three district championships over the last five seasons and four North Star League division titles. The Tigers also set a program record with 21 wins in 2016-17.

Kuzewski is stepping away from coaching to spend more time with his family.

“The last few years we have a couple young kids at home and they’re 2 and 4 right now. And the time commitment to basketball, I’ve always said if I’m going to do this I’m doing this 100% and put all the energy in it to do this,” Kuzewski said. “With a couple young kids at home I think it’s just time now to step away cause I feel like I’ve been away a little bit too much the last couple years. It’s time to spend time with them and maybe get back into basketball sometime down the road.”

The Tigers posted a 161-94 record in 12 seasons under Kuzewski.
