Lilleboe Wins 102nd Michigan Open Championship

ACME – Eric Lilleboe of Okemos was declared the winner of the 102nd Michigan Open Championship after the fourth and final round was rained out on Thursday at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.

Lilleboe fired a 7-under 65 to take over the top spot on Wednesday at 13-under par to claim his first Michigan Open title.

“I was ready to play today, Lilleboe said. “I wanted to play today, just because that’s how I’ve always been. I want to play golf.  It hasn’t quite set in yet, but it will. You know, my name’s going to be on that plate, my name’s going to be on that trophy for forever, so that’s really cool. This tops it for me. It’s special to me, it’s my home state open, and so it means a lot.”

Blaze Hogan of Big Rapids finished tied for ninth at 1-under.

Traverse City’s Randall Hutchison shot a 1-under 71 on Wednesday to tie for 19th at 1-over. Fellow Traverse City resident and current Ferris State golfer Thomas Hursey came home in a tie for 22nd after finishing at 2-over.
