Pit Spitters Pummel Bombers for Sixth Straight Win

TRAVERSE CITY – The Traverse City Pit Spitters plated 12 runs and tallied 19 hits in a 12-4 rout of the Battle Creek Bombers at Pit Spitters Park on Thursday.

Chad Patrick allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits while striking three over six innings to earn the win for the Traverse City (18-13), which has now won six straight and holds 1.5 game lead over the Kokomo Jackrabbits in the Great Lakes East division.

The Pit Spitters broke 4-4 tie in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run inning and tacked on five more insurance runs in the seventh.

Hudson Byorick and Ryan Hampe both went 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBI and a pair of runs scored to lead Traverse City while Drake Titus went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.

The teams close out their two-game series at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
