Traverse City’s Bryant Heading to USA Hockey National Player Development Camps

TRAVERSE CITY – Traverse City native Sydney Bryant will soon take part in the USA Hockey National Player Development Camps.

Bryant will join nearly 1,110 15-, 16- and 17-year-old boys and girls from across the United States at the camp. She just one of 10, 2004 birth year girls from Michigan that will attend the camp that runs from July 12-17 in St. Cloud, Minn.

The 14-year-old defenseman has been playing the game for nine years, including with the Traverse City North Stars, and was surprised to receive the invitation to the camp.

“My parents called me down to the office, and I was like, ‘wait, what’s going on here?’ I was really happy when I found out,” Bryant said. “It’s both intimidating and exciting. I mean, I know that there’s going to be a lot of really good girls there, because I know that they selected from each district, and so I think it’s going to be really fun.”

Bryant will attend Traverse City St. Francis for her freshman year this fall and play for the Under-16 Honeybaked team.
