Calabrese Reflects On Top Ten Finish At Nationals

REED CITY – It was an unexpected accomplishment for Chippewa Hills junior Jonathan Calabrese.

He was invited to the USA Clay Target League National Championship after a standout season with his school’s team.

“I would say it was a pretty good season for me, I got quite a lot better towards the end though,” said Calabrese.

After arriving to the big event, he decided he wanted to set some goals.

“I was there and I wanted to make top 50,” said Calabrese. “And then I just kept shooting really well, and I just kept going forward.”

He shot better than he anticipated, ending up in the top ten in the country. He finished in eighth place.

“I really wasn’t expecting it to be honest. As soon as I walked off the field, everyone was there, hugs, high fives, handshakes, all of it,” said Calabrese.
