Joe Berger Camp Returns to Newaygo

NEWAYGO – For the fifth year in a row, Joe Berger returned to Newaygo High School to host his annual youth football camp.

This year more than 200 hundred kids came out to play with the former NFL lineman.

“It’s just the idea of getting out of the house, and be active for the day,” said Berger. “And that’s what we got going on here, we’ve got a variety of different drills some are football related but some are just running around competing with each other and having a good time. It’s just fun, fun to be out here with 200 kids having a good time.”

The camp brings the community together, with local businesses like Newaygo Fitness and Edward Jones Investments sponsoring the camp.

Berger has now been retired for one season, but spent 13 years in the NFL. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2005, and also played for the Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys, and ended his career with the Minnesota Vikings.
