Josh Crocker Leaves Mesick, Accepts Opportunity at Benzie Central

BENZONIA – Josh Crocker is temporarily saying goodbye to football and baseball and taking over Benzie Central’s varsity boys basketball team.

Crocker was previously the head coach of the varsity football and baseball teams at Mesick.

Although he has never coached a varsity basketball team, he did spend the last two years with Traverse City West’s freshman team.

Crocker grew up in Suttons Bay, so the Northwest League is nothing new for him.

As he continues voluntary practices throughout the summer, he is excited to start getting to know the kids he will coach this winter.

“It helps me to get to know names, first of all, and to see what they are able to do in a basketball sense. Every day it has been a surprise because there is a kid that I am meeting for the first time that shows up. There is a lot of excitement with that because every day there is somebody new and something new,” said Crocker.

The Huskies finished 10-10 in the 2018-2019 season.
