Moller Named Elk Rapids Interim Head Football Coach

ELK RAPIDS — Elk Rapids appointed Tony Moller as the interim head football coach for the upcoming season. First-year head coach Jake Messner resigned due to health reasons, according to the school’s principal, Mike Travis.

Moller has been on the Elk Rapids football coaching staff since 2006 and has had various roles with the program. He most recently served as the varsity defensive coordinator for the last two years. He had learned about his new role Friday morning and has been working on catching up with the coaching staff.

Moller said his goal is to step in and keep things rolling for the Elks. They have had back-to-back 7-3 seasons and made the playoffs in four of the last six years.

The Elks will have a 7-on-7 scrimmage at Thirlby Field on Monday. 9&10 News will have more from Moller following his team’s scrimmage.
