Pit Spitters Clinch First Playoff Spot

BATTLE CREEK — The Traverse City Pit Spitters secured a spot in the Northwoods League postseason with a 12-9 victory over the Battle Creek Bombers on Monday.

The Northwoods League rewards first half leaders in each sub-division a spot in the best of three Sub-Divisional Series, and the Pit Spitters entered Monday night needing either a win or Rockford loss to secure first place of Great Lakes East Division.

They secured a postseason bid in their inaugural season by scoring three runs in the 10th inning, with Andrew Morrow driving in a pair of runs that inning.

The postseason will begin at the end of Traverse City’s regular season in August.
