Sault Ste. Marie Native Roque Invited to 2019 USA Women’s Hockey National Festival

Sault Ste. Marie native and University of Wisconsin senior forward Abby Roque has been invited to the 2019 USA Women’s Hockey National Festival.

The event will take place Aug. 5-13 at the Olympic Center at Lake Placid, New York, and serves as a training camp to determine rosters for Under-18 and Under-22 Select teams to compete against Canada in the annual U18 and U22 series. A best-of-three series for both levels will take place Aug. 14-17 at the Olympic Center.

Roque led Wisconsin to the 2019 NCAA national championship and finished second on the team in scoring with 43 points on 11 goals and 32 assists. In three seasons with the Badgers, Roque has totaled 100 points on 26 goals and 74 assists.

Roque is one of seven Michigan natives taking part in the event. She’s joined by 2018 Olympic gold medalist Megan Keller (Farmington Hills), Callie Shanahan (Commerce Township), Kirsten Simms (Plymouth), Amanda Thiele (Milford), Clara Van Wieren (Okemos) and Emma Gentry (Alpena).
