Atlanta Focusing on Conditioning in 2019
ATLANTA – A year reaching the postseason for the first time in four seasons, Atlanta took a step back last fall, going 2-7 after a .500 campaign in 2017.
The Vikings, who are entering their third season of 8-player football, have put a heavy emphasis on conditioning this year.
“We’ve been focused a lot on conditioning,” veteran Atlanta coach Troy Cheedie said. “We’ve had a lack of players, last year and again this year, so we’ve been taking the time to get them in good condition.
“We only have 14 players, so being in shape, mentally and physically, and being tough mentally and physically is key to making it four quarters in a football game.”
Atlanta opens its season at home against Charlton Heston Academy on Thursday, Aug. 29. The two teams split last year’s meetings, with Atlanta winning the second meeting 39-22.
