Bednarik Takes Over the Reins at Roscommon

ROSCOMMON – After a historic 2018 campaign, Roscommon begins 2019 with a new head coach and a new conference to call home.

Last fall the Bucks recorded their first 10-win season since 2006 and secured a share of a Jack Pine Conference championship. Now Roscommon makes the move to the Highland Conference and welcomes back program alum Steve Bednarik as its coach.

Bednarik, who spent the previous six seasons leading Charlton Heston Academy and played collegiately at Eastern Michigan, takes over for Steve Clements.

“It means everything,” Bednarik said. “I’ve always wanted to coach here. It’s just a great fit for me. The kids have responded well.”

Two-a-days are always hard, so we’re always a little tired,” added Roscommon senior Seth Keipert. “We’ve had a lot of good energy. Really like the new coach. He brings a lot of energy to the team, too.”

Roscommon opens its season on the road at Grayling on Thursday. The Bucks won last year’s meeting 44-34.
